Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Place the ham cut-side down on a roasting pan and tent with foil. Bake for 1 hour.
10 lb. Bone-in spiral cut or whole ham
  • While the ham bakes, prepare your glaze! Melt the butter in a saucepan or in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Add the honey, brown sugar, garlic powder and black pepper in a small mixing bowl, then add the melted butter and mix until combined.
1 cup Honey, ½ cup Brown sugar, ½ cup Unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon Garlic powder, ½ tablespoon Black pepper, 1 spring onion
  • Remove the roasting pan from the oven when one hour has passed, leaving the oven on. Take off the foil and brush the surface of the ham with glaze, making sure to separate each slice (if spiral-cut) to brush each slice with glaze as well.
  • Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan, to make sure the ham stays moist while finishing cooking. Without covering the ham, return the roasting pan to the oven and bake for 30 additional minutes.
    1 cup Chicken broth
  • Remove the pan from the oven, slice if necessary, and serve!

Notes

Each cut of ham is different, and requires a slightly different cooking time! The goal is to reach the 140°F internal temperature requirement without drying out the meat or over-heating it to the point of being tough and chewy.
  • For whole precooked hams that weigh 10-18 pounds, cook at 325°F for 15-18 minutes per pound.
  • For half precooked hams at 5-10 pounds, cook at 325°F for 18-24 minutes per pound.
  • For spiral-cut precooked hams, cook at 275°F for 10 minutes per pound.
