One Pot Spaghetti Recipe
It may go without saying that with four kids (and one of them a picky eater!), spaghetti has always been a regular part of my household's dinner rotation. On less busy nights, I love rolling meatballs together as a family and taking my time letting the sauce simmer.

How to Make Spaghetti with Sausage
- Add pork sausage, ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper to a large pot over medium-high heat on the stove. Cook 15 minutes until the meat crumbles and cooks through.
- Pour in chicken stock and spaghetti sauce, then add spaghetti noodles and red pepper flakes to the pot. Raise the heat and bring to a boil, stirring so the spaghetti does not stick together or to the bottom of the pot.
- Once boiling, lower the heat to medium and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to keep the noodles from sticking to the pot.
- Remove from heat. Top with parmesan and parsley, serve, and enjoy!
One Pot Spaghetti Recipe Tips
- Beef or vegetable stock can be substituted for chicken stock.
- For a saucier pasta, add additional sauce after making it.
- Add vegetables to mix things up, such as mushrooms or bell peppers.
- White onion can be substituted for red onion.
- Other kinds of pasta may be used instead of spaghetti.
- Double the pork sausage if you want to replace the ground beef.
- Try adding dried basil or Italian seasoning to mix things up for an extra flavor boost.
Spaghetti with Sausage FAQ
Although you can cook meat directly in sauce, it's better to brown it first for best flavor. Allow the sausage to brown in the pot before adding any sauce for a more flavorful dish.
One 24 ounce jar of spaghetti sauce can be used for 16 ounces of dry pasta. With the addition of chicken stock, there is enough liquid to cook the pasta in the sauce.
