Best Seasoning for Pork Chops

In my house, pork chops are never far from the dinner table. They're ultra-affordable, filling, versatile, and quick to cook in so many different ways. What's not to love? And with pork's naturally mild flavor, there are tons of herbs and spices for pork chops just waiting to make dinner delicious!

What's so great about this simple pork chop seasoning is that it works for just about every way you could possibly cook pork! I originally made it to be a pork chop seasoning for the grill, but it's also a perfect seasoning for pork chops in the oven. So of course I had to make them again but use it as a fried pork chop seasoning!

That's the thing- with this perfect blend of spicy, sweet, savory and zesty, you'll be whipping up the best pork chop seasoning ever, every single time. And with only 7 easy pantry ingredients, you'll never be far from the most flavorful pork you've ever had!

Pork Chop Rubs Tips

  • If you like spicy pork chop seasoning, add a dash of cayenne pepper or more red pepper flakes!
  • Because it's a dry rub, this is the perfect pork chop rub for the grill. But don't be afraid to use it for everything!
  • Make a large batch ahead of time, and store it in a glass bottle with a shaker cap. Dinner will be done faster than ever with homemade pork chop seasoning already mixed up and ready to go, and no wet ingredients means it has a super long shelf life!
  • There's no flour in this rub, making it the perfect gluten-free pork chop seasoning. If you want to make it keto, swap out the brown sugar for your favorite low-carb sugar substitute!
  • Want to try something different? Try out my herb-forward Pork Seasoning, or a classic catchall Pork Rub! Or, double the flavor with a good rub and a decadent Pork Gravy!

Pork Chop Seasoning FAQs

Should pork chops be seasoned before cooking?

Pork chops are naturally mild in flavor, so for the best results, you should always season them well before cooking them. Pat down all sides with an even coating of a dry rub to add tons of flavor!

What should I put on pork chops before cooking?

Pork chop rub is a blend of spices meant to be added to pork before cooking, infusing the meat with flavor. There are dry and wet pork chop seasonings, but dry rubs are the cleanest to work with and are shelf stable, so make extra!

What seasoning is good with pork chops?

Pork pairs extremely well with a blend of sweet and savory flavors, so it's a classic to add brown sugar and paprika! Garlic powder, onion powder, and crushed red pepper add robustness and never forget a good quality salt. It's essential!

What's the secret to juicy pork chops?

Pork chops are easy to overcook, and nobody likes tough pork chops. The secret is keeping a close eye on the internal temperature of the meat! Cook pork chops to an internal temperature of 145°F and let to rest off the heat for five minutes. This will ensure juicy, tender meat every time! Check out my Pork Temperature Chart for more details!
