Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sliders

Ham and cheese sliders are one of those indulgences that seem like they can't possibly be as easy and quick to make as they are. Pillow-soft bread, gooey melty cheese, juicy ham, and a topping of garlic butter sauce make these hot ham and cheese sliders a must-have for any occasion!

Sliced deli ham works, but for an extra-incredible slider, try making them using leftover ham. Trust me, you're going to be looking forward to these sliders just as much as the ham dinner itself!

Easy Ham and Cheese Slider Ingredients

  • Hawaiian Rolls (12 pack)
  • Sliced cheese (Swiss or Provolone are best!)
  • Leftover ham or Deli ham
  • Garlic butter sauce
  • Honey
  • Salt and pepper

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • Salted butter
  • Garlic
  • Parsley

How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders

  1. Chop the garlic and parsley, then add to a bowl with melted butter and honey and mix well until the honey has completely mixed in.
Take out the Hawaiian rolls from the box (don't split them up yet!) and place them on a cutting board, then cut them in half. (Keep the box, you'll be using it later.)
Using a basting brush for a nice even coating, spread garlic butter evenly over the inside of the rolls.

  2. Top the bottom half of the rolls with a layer of cheese, then ham, then another layer of cheese. Leftover ham will take 4-6 slices, while Deli ham will take about 12 as it is a very thin cut.

  3. Top the entire thing with the other half of the rolls, then cover the top with another layer of garlic butter.
  4. Sprinkle the top with salt and pepper, then return the sliders to the previously saved cardboard container so that the rolls fit snugly within. Cover the entire tray and rolls with foil.

  5. Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 8 minutes, or until the cheese melts completely.
Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese melts completely.
  6. Remove the foil, slice, and serve!

Ham and Cheese Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls Tips

  • Feel free to change up the cheese! My favorite is ham and swiss sliders, but provolone works for a milder cheese, or you could try muenster for an extra-creamy slider!
  • Make sure to slice them before serving! This baked ham and cheese sliders recipe uses large pieces of ham, which won't pull apart well without slicing.
  • For a lighter flavor, try out ham and cheese sliders with poppy seeds! Just swap out the garlic butter sauce for regular melted butter and top the rolls with a sprinkling of poppy seeds before cooking.

Ham and Cheese Slider Recipes FAQs

Can Hawaiian roll sliders be prepared the day before?

You can prepare sliders the day before. Just get the sandwiches completely assembled in the cardboard and then cover them with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge. Bake or air fry them right before serving. In the fridge, prepared sliders will last 1-2 days.

How do you keep ham and cheese sliders warm for a party?

Keeping sliders warm is easy. Keep the box tightly wrapped in foil and they'll stay warm for up to an hour; or, for easy snacking throughout the day, wrap each one individually in foil and stack them up in a crock pot set to low heat.
