Pork Steak on the Grill

If you have yet to try cooking pork steak, you are in for a surprise. Compared to other cuts of meat, pork is much more budget-friendly, which is exactly why it's my go-to choice for regular weeknight dinners. It's almost always on sale here, too, so naturally, I've had plenty of reason to experiment with pork steak recipes!

Of all of them, pork steak on the grill may be my favorite. You would not believe how tender and juicy these steaks become after marinating and grilling. I guarantee once you try this recipe for pork steak, you're going to want to have more on-hand in the freezer for future dinners.

If you love pork like I do, you may already know the beauty of pork steaks, and I know you'll love this dish. But, if you're just getting started cooking pork, let this recipe convince you to pick it up every time you pick up groceries. Just trust me!

Grilled Pork Steak Ingredients

Pork Steaks

  • boneless pork steaks

Although you can use bone-in pork shoulder steaks, they may take longer to cook. Bone-in pork steaks may also be larger than boneless, and therefore may feed more people. I recommend boneless for uniform results.

Pork Steak Marinade

  • olive oil
  • soy sauce
  • honey
  • lemon zest
  • lemon juice
  • black pepper
  • sea salt

How to Cook Pork Steak

  1. Whisk olive oil, soy sauce, honey, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a bowl until the honey dissolves. Add salt, pepper, and minced garlic, mix, then set aside ¼ cup of the marinade and pour the rest into a zip-lock bag.
  2. After setting some marinade aside, add the pork steaks to the bag and marinate for at least 1 hour at room temperature or in the refrigerator overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork steaks.
  4. Sear for 2 minutes. Flip, baste with the reserved marinade, and repeat until the steaks have cooked for 10-12 minutes total.
  5. Remove from the grill and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Pork Steak Recipes Tips

  • You can grill pork steaks on an outside gas or charcoal grill or in a grill pan on the stove, making this a great choice for a year-round recipe.
  • Marinate for at least 1 hour, but overnight in the refrigerator is even better! I love to pop these pork steaks in the fridge the day before making them for a tender, easy dinner with amazing flavor.
  • Let your pork steaks rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing for best results.
  • Always slice against the grain of meat for the most tender cuts.
  • Thinly sliced pork steak tends to be even more tender than more thickly sliced pork. Try slicing thinly for best results!

FAQ for Pork Shoulder Steaks

How long do you grill pork steak for?

Grill pork steaks for a total of 10-12 minutes over medium-high heat, flipping as necessary. The internal temperature should reach at least 145°F on a meat thermometer. Use my pork temperature chart for best results.

What goes with grilled pork steaks?

Grilled pork steaks can be served a variety of ways: over rice with a sauce, with grilled potatoes and a salad, with your favorite BBQ sauce and sides, or even as meat for fajitas with sliced sauteed peppers. Like pork chops, they pair well with practically everything!
